CHARACTER |
- Lawrence University is an internationally renowned college of liberal arts and sciences and a conservatory of music, both devoted exclusively to undergraduate education.
- Lawrence believes that college should not be a one-size-fits-all experience. You will learn best when you're educated as a unique individual. That's why we offer a personalized, meaningful education that gives you the freedom and flexibility to develop and combine your talents and passions at a level few colleges can provide.
- Three campuses: The 84-acre main campus overlooking the historic (and northward-flowing) Fox River; Bjorklunden vid Sjon, a 425-acre estate on Lake Michigan in Door County, WI; and the London Study Center.
- With a population of 72,000 (in a metro area of a quarter million), Appleton is part of one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the Midwest. The area's size, cultural complexity and breadth of businesses give you ample opportunities for internships, research projects, civic engagement and community service.
- You can drive to Appleton from Milwaukee or Madison, WI in just under two hours, from Chicago in around three hours and from Minneapolis in five hours. While it may sound like a tiny outpost, Outagamie County Regional Airport—only 6 miles from campus—serves Appleton by connecting to six major hubs on four major airlines: Chicago (United); Detroit and Minneapolis (Northwest); Cincinnati and Atlanta (Delta); and Milwaukee (on our home state favorite, Midwest Airlines).

WORTH NOTING |
- Believing that academic performance in school is the best indicator of a student's academic potential in college, Lawrence allows you to choose whether you will submit your ACT and/or SAT results for admission review.
- Lawrence's Honor Code creates an academic and social environment that values cooperation over competition. At Lawrence, when you complete any assignment or test, you'll reaffirm this Honor Code. The Honor Code works so well that professors will often give take-home exams with the simple instructions: "Don't use your notes or books. Take an hour to answer the questions. Bring it back next week." You can do your work in the comfort of your own room, along the Fox River, at the coffee shop—wherever. We trust you.
- Explore your interests more deeply by taking advantage of almost limitless opportunities for individualized learning through one-on-one tutorials, independent study, honors projects and studio lessons.

FACULTY & ACADEMICS |
- All classes, including introductory courses, are taught by faculty members, 95% of whom hold the most advanced degree in their field.
- From the interdisciplinary approach of our world-renowned Freshman Studies program (check out the next paragraph) to our nearly infinite combinations of academic programs, Lawrence offers you the options (and the advising) to explore your multiple interests, whether you choose from one of our 33 majors or dream up a recipe that has never been tried before.
- Few colleges have a first-year requirement like Freshman Studies, where you and your classmates will explore about a dozen compelling works from disciplines all across the university, including music and visual art. Though the entire freshman class comes together for introductory lectures for each work, the remainder of the course is taught in 15-student sections by faculty from all over the university. The works change from year to year, but one writer is always on the syllabus: Plato.
- Lawrence offers you a Bachelor of Arts degree, Bachelor of Music degree and BA/BMus double degree (five-year program).
